Climate change

Over the next few months you will be reading a lot in SCMP and other newspapers about climate change.  The 15th International Climate Change Conference will be held in December in Copenhagen.   A new report on Behind The News explains this in simple English.  It’s a good way to learn some of the vocabulary you might need to understand more difficult articles.

BBQ2

The class picnic on Friday was a great chance to chat and relax.  I enjoyed the fishballs – something I had never had on a BBQ before.  In Australia we usually use a grill to cook meat like this – so it was amazing to see everyone cooking their chicken as well as marshmallows using the BBQ forks.  (not all together!)
When you get the chance,  to check out Form page for a copy of the power point used in class.  …. and keep reading … LOTS!

A busy week

lion_s

This has been a busy week for all of us.  National Day celebrations last week was a great time to celebrate – as well a time to rest for a few.  There were some classes that missed a lesson during this cycle, but it will be easy to catch up.  The fun of the mid autumn festival has also meant lots of family celebrations.  It has been a great time to be in Hong Kong – with lanterns, moon cakes, sweet soup and many the activities around.  The dragon lion dance competition in Tuen Mun today was spectacular.  They are very brave to perform such tricks on those poles.
Now that the festivities are over for a while, make sure you check where we are up to with class work.
